:bookdiva: THE STORY BEHIND THE PICTURE : Every day on this planet we find ourselves, some of us at least, wondering if we are worthy. It doesn't matter what it is, we wonder if we are the ones who deserve whatever it is that is given to us freely. Whether it be love, friendship, forgiveness, whatever, there is just something in us all that makes us wonder what is so special about us, or even worth the time and effort, to label us as "worthy".

Technical aspects of this image aside (yes, if you are an old-school artist you will definitely recognize the anatomy work on the figure) I went into this picture leaving it entirely ambiguous. With some recent events in my life I found myself feeling very much like the man at the bottom of the earthen cell. Am i worthy of the light shining through the permanent grating above me? Personally i don't, but others obviously do.

And what exactly is the "ligt" shining through that he feels he is unworthy of? That's what I leave to you to decide on your own.

Yeah, I'd say you are worth it. That aside, moving on to the image.

Love the sculpted muscles, the pose, especially the earthen walls. The overall tone of the image strikes a nerve with me, well done.

Thank you. Shading's always been a handicap of mine, and when I had this image flash through my mind, not only was I determined to put it to paper, but also use it as practice. I could have done a lot better, but I'm happy :)
