STRAIGHT OUT OF HELL 2 date October 2006 / November 2007 medium ink, Prisma Marker and white charcoal size - 11 x 17 surface - Académie Heavyweight Sketch Paper
THE STORY BEHIND THE PICTURE : Here is another example of starting something, and then for whatever reason setting it on the backburner for a very long time, not sure if you will ever get back to it again. Four years prior to completing this one I had drawn my first chopper with the first Straight Out Of Hell and I was itching to do another one. I was wracking my brain wondering if I should go with another old-school style motorcycle, and also if I should go with my original plan from all those years prior and do one coming out of Heaven like I had originally wanted to do.
Personal interests, of course, change over the years. During this time I had become a huge fan of such shows as American Chopper [link] and Biker Build-Off [link] where the focus was long, mean and powerful custom bikes. During the time between I had toyed off and on with the idea of bringing back Death and giving him a new ride as well, but I was leery of going over old ground again with the exact same subject matter.
In the end I really wanted to draw my version of Death again, and I wanted to update the original bike in the process. Like before, I had access to a few magazines with some ideal sources and I set out to create the next generation in choppers for the Bringer of the Dead. Everything was moving along smoothly and it looked like I was going to finish it in record time, but then life interfered and the bike sat there, unfinished and collecting dust for a year before I got back down and finished it.
- please be aware that this is a reposted image and not a brand new deviation
Thank you I'm a huge fan of the newer styles out there these days, and this was my little homage, while updating an old picture of mine in the process.
