I don’t know exactly how much time I have left...or how much of my life he will allow me to have after all of this is over. So I will do my best and tell as much as I can before I am sure that my life will be ended, so please...bear with me.

My name is Nathan Clegg and my sure-to-be last project was a research paper for college on a prolific, yet relatively unknown serial killer named Johannes Krieg from Berlin, Germany. He was a circus clown by trade, having made a respectable name for himself overseas with his acts of magic and humor. His name was so well known that the Cleginski Brothers, Ronald and Keith, decided at rather great personal expense to bring him over to be a part of their first ever nation-wide tour.

At first things went splendidly and Giggles, as Johannes was so cleverly named, brought in massive amounts of money each and every night. No one seemed to pay much notice that in every town the circus visited that the murders would increase by the dozens. For the three nights that the Cleginski Circus was in town, various grisly murders would take place...and many of the victims were small children.

The F.B.I. and Interpol began an investigation into the numerous mysterious deaths because the ones that were committed in America mirrored many unsolved cases overseas. And the connection to Johannes was made when travel records for the various companies he worked for were searched through and it was found the every time a circus went to a village or town., Johannes was a part of the crew.

I could not find any information on what finally condemned Johannes but I do know that it wasn’t the government that captured him and brought him to justice. In a small town in central Texas, Hutto, located just North of Austin, the locals captured him, tied him to a tree on the outskirts of town and slit his throat. Why they did this it was never recorded, but it was rumored that he had been caught in an act that I can’t bring myself to commit to paper...ever.

That example of civilian justice took place on October 18, 1929. The next day his body was gone and there were no signs of anyone having come for him, or any traces of blood. In fact, according to the local legends, there wasn’t even any sign that the event had ever taken place...almost as though it had been wiped from existence. Since then the children of Hutto, Texas have all grown up believing that, if they were ever bad little boys or girls that Giggles would get them.

...I would never have believed in this myth...but right now in the next room I can smell his decaying flesh and the smell of his blood is strong in my nose. Johannes is alive...more or less..and has chosen to make me a chronicler of his ‘comeback’ performances...the things I have seen this man do...oh God those children! God help me I want to die...for what I have seen that man do...I would rather be dead than to live with those visions in my head....
